David here.....I've recently graduated with an MEng and have signed up to a training agreement with my employers. Looking to start on the long journey to becoming a Chartered Structural Engineer Smile

Welcome aboard! That's going to be a long journey - glad you found our website right at the start! We just released our newest IStructE Exam Guidance Pack today which might interest you in the future.

In addition, to accelerate your learning you should download the entirety of IStructE's Technical Guidance Notes Level 1 and Level 2 (free if you are a member of any grade) and learn to do all the calculations for a variety of situations.
Hi Everyone!
I'm Martin... I have recently started to complete my career appraisal for ICE CEng and the attribute achievement form evidences. I come from a contractor background and am not on a training scheme.

Hi All,
I'm a Graduate Structural Engineer with a couple of years experience in temporary works within the energy sector and a couple of years experience, more recently, in a "permanent" building structures team.
I am currently included on my employer's ICE training agreement but I'm still unsure on which route to take once my IPD is complete.
The information on this site has, so far, been particularly helpful with negotiating IPD.

Welcome wkduffy!

IStructE recognises ICE's IPD so either institution will be open to you. One valid point Nick Borner made was that if you can pass ICE or one of several other institutions' review first, then taking the IStructE exam is less pressure as you would already be Chartered. Worth reading Nick's blog post if you can.

Hi All,

I'm a Bridge Engineer from Australia with 5 years experience. I'm currently working towards CPEng with Engineers Australia, and through mutual recognition will then be taking the IStructE Exam.

Hi all,

Chartered Civil Engineer here (ICE). Approx 12 years post grad experience, but newly chartered, so I thought I would join the forum to offer any words of wisdom for anyone working towards chartership.

I look forward to chatting with you.

Thanks
Tom

Hi all,

a non-chartered structural engineer with oil and gas background. Aiming IStructE in the future or just doing the Offshore Specialist Exam.

thanks,
Gabor
